WGI Reads With Nearly 1,000 Children Through Recently Launched Program
BATON ROUGE (April 17th, 2018) - Baton Rouge based WGI, an international organization that is educating people around the world to stop illiteracy, has read to nearly a thousand children in the city through its recently launched You Can Read program.
You Can Read, which launched in February, has seem local volunteers visit dozens of classrooms across Baton Rouge and read with students. This citywide effort is playing an important part in both promoting literacy to students, and helping them build the skills to functionally read.
School partners for You Can Read in Baton Rouge include Winbourne Elementary, Celerity Dalton Elementary, Children's Charter Elementary, etc. Through the You Can Read program, WGI has read with approximately 700 children in Baton Rouge in two months.
