After establishing a footing in North Asia with the launch of our Hong Kong affiliate, WGI naturally turned our sights to Southeast Asia. The launched of our Singapore affiliate provided us the opportunity to bring our vision to the region.
WGI Singapore, since its inception, has supported the migrant community in the country with our work. WGI Singapore initially partnered with YWCA to teach English to female immigrants in Singapore via Read and Rice. These classes were held weekly in Outram.
WGI Singapore then partnered with FAST to provide our Read and Rice program to domestic workers in the country. These classes launched in Summer 2018 and were held in Bukit Merah.
Today, keeping with the focus on migrants, we are partnering with Centre for Domestic Employees to run our Read & Rice program locally.
WGI Singapore is chaired by Patrik Nilsson and Allanjit Singh.
