WGI Celebrates a Decade of Impact and Unveils Lyra 2.0 Beta on World Literacy Day

As we celebrate World Literacy Day WGI is proud to mark ten years of relentless dedication to eradicating illiteracy. From its humble beginnings, WGI has grown into a global movement with the audacious goal of teaching one billion children to read and write. Today, we are thrilled to take another significant step toward this vision with the beta release of Lyra 2.0, the next evolution of our groundbreaking learn-to-read app.

Since launching our first version of Lyra four years ago we've continuously worked to refine and expand the app’s capabilities. Lyra 2.0 is the culmination of these efforts, incorporating hundreds of improvements to provide a more engaging and effective learning experience for children.

Key features of Lyra 2.0 include:

- A Brand-New Design: Featuring Lyra and three star mates, who transform the reading journey into an adventure that captivates learners.

- 100 New Interactive Lessons: Designed to help users seamlessly progress from mastering the alphabet to understanding phonics, forming words, and eventually reading complete sentences.

"Ten years ago WGI was just a dream. Today, we’re impacting lives across the globe. The launch of Lyra 2.0 represents our commitment to innovation and our mission to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to learn to read." comments WGI Chairman, CEO and Founder Chance Wilson.

As we move forward, WGI is dedicated to ensuring that Lyra 2.0 not only meets the needs of learners in the United States but also adapts to diverse learning environments around the world. Charlie Harrison, WGI’s Chief Digital Officer shares his vision: "Lyra 2.0 is designed with scalability in mind. We’re rigorously testing the beta version to gather feedback from various communities, including rural areas and international schools, to refine the app. Our goal is to create a tool that transcends borders and languages."

The beta testing phase is a critical part of our development process, allowing us to collect invaluable data on the app’s performance and user engagement. This feedback will guide the final tweaks before the official release. We’re also exploring partnerships and strategies to ensure Lyra’s global rollout, making literacy accessible to every child, everywhere.

As we celebrate World Literacy Day we invite you to join us in this journey. Stay tuned for more updates on the full release of Lyra 2.0 and our continued efforts to make a lasting impact on global literacy.
