WGI and Interscope Records Unite to Support LA Students
LOS ANGELES (December 18th, 2019) - WGI Worldwide, Inc. and Interscope Geffen A&M, one of the world’s foremost record labels, held an event in Los Angeles today at Crete Academy to support the literacy skills of Los Angeles students.
This event saw 30 Interscope employees volunteer their time to teach students how to read and write. The Interscope employees used curriculum developed by WGI with the students. The event was the culmination of an over year long relationship between WGI and Interscope, which has seen Interscope regularly volunteer with WGI at local schools to support the literacy skills of students.
In addition to the volunteerism, students were treated to a surprise visit by Grammy nominated recording artist Swae Lee. Swae spoke to the students about the importance of education and school. After, the top readers in the school were given Xboxes by Swae to highlight their performance.
“The language of music opens a new world for children who find their minds shaped by its influence,” commented Paul Dietzel, WGI’s Vice Chairman. “WGI’s collaboration with Interscope will develop skills for future generations in need of new horizons of literacy and learning.”
Partners for this event included WGI Worldwide, Inc., Interscope Geffen A&M, Microsoft, Crete Academy, etc.
