WGI Launches Read and Rice Program in Jakarta
JAKARTA (December 6th, 2017) - International organization WGI, through its local affiliate WGI Indonesia, today launched its Read & Rice program in the capital city of Jakarta. Read & Rice is an Asia based literacy program which teaches participating students how to read and write. The classes, taught in English, also provide food to participating students. These elements make up the name “Read” and “Rice”.
In Jakarta, WGI Indonesia has partnered with KDM and Ydigital to provide the program to local street children. These children are mostly orphaned and homeless, and are living at a KDM facility. Ydigital, a Jakarta based company, has offered their offices and staff to help run the program.
“It is great to see WGI Indonesia up and running so quickly after our launch” commented WGI Chairman & CEO Chance Wilson. “I’m excited to see all the success stories that come from our work in the country.”
