After establishing ourselves domestically, the decision was made to quickly expand internationally. Hong Kong was the focus for this expansion, and ultimately became our first international affiliate. Hong Kong remains our Asia Pacific headquarters.
WGI Hong Kong initially partnered with a local charity to teach English to refugees. WGI, together with this partner, organized English classes for refugees across Hong Kong. These classes were held in Tsim Sha Tsui.
After this partnership, WGI Hong Kong re-aligned our focus to supporting local children in the city. We began our current partnership with HKFYG and Foodlink to support this target demographic. Through our Read & Rice program, we’re providing free classes and food to children in Hong Kong. Read & Rice launched in Hong Kong in late 2017, and has supported over 300 children.
WGI Hong Kong is chaired by Nicola Oldfield and located in Quarry Bay.
