The Red Stick. Baton Rouge, a city rich in culture and diversity, is the birthplace of WGI.
WGI was founded in Baton Rouge back in April 2014. At the time, WGI went by "Wilson Global Initiative" and was a local community organization. Three years later, the "Wilson Global Initiative" has morphed into the internationally renowned "WGI".
In Baton Rouge, WGI has organized different projects aimed at supporting our mission. WGI BR has held book drives, put new technology in local classrooms, ran after school programs, etc.
Currently, Baton Rouge is one of two launch cities for our You Can Read campaign. We are working with Winbourne Elementary, Children's Charter Elementary, Albemarle, and Coca-Cola in support of the campaign's goal.
Baton Rouge remains the world headquarters of WGI.
